Styling-Your-Workspace

Let’s face it, most of us spend a lot of our time sitting at a desk whether it’s at work, while we study for exams and do homework or those hours that just seem to fly by when you get sucked into Pinterest. I’m all about feeling inspired by your workspace and I was SO excited when I moved from a studio to my loft last year because it meant I had room for a desk again and a little area to dedicate to blogging. I’d also be lying if I wasn’t excited about having a desk space to style – there’s just something really fun about the balance between function, inspiration and making the space just feel like you.

Some tips to pretty up your workspace a bit:

  • Get Personal: Little personal decorations, from photos of your friends & family to momentos from travels, will help you feel more comfortable in your workspace and help make it your own (especially important in office and cubicle situations!) There’s a fine line between going overboard and making a workspace feel personal so be sure to balance photos and knick knacks with functional pieces that keep you focused & set you up for success in getting shit done.
  • Find Stylish Storage: For me, having my workspace free of clutter is essential – I just can’t focus with tons of stuff around and that feeling of disorganization and mess. Storage is really important when it comes to a functional workspace but don’t feel like you’re stuck with grey filing cabinets or plastic bins. Find stylish storage solutions, like colored file folders, a monogrammed pen cup or acrylic boxes to hide the clutter but still keep your essentials at reach.
  • Have Inspiration in Sight: Everyone has a favorite quote that they’ve adopted as a mantra – it can be as simple as “HUSTLE” to something inspiring from a favorite author or historical figure. Inspiration is the perfect workspace accessory because everyone has those moments where we’re feeling overwhelmed and discouraged and having a source of inspiration right within view can be just the boost you need to refocus.
  • Books, Books & More Books: Books are not only super functional when it comes to a workspace but make a great accessory as well! Show off your favorite points of reference with some cute bookends or just stacked – bonus points for office life: books are a great conversation starter! Someone is bound to notice what your favorites are and ask about them or recommend others for you to dive into.
