DIY // crochet trim jean shorts.

Sauza-DIY-3

Denim shorts. Jorts. Jean shorts. Whatever you’d like to call them, they tend to be a summertime staple that stands the test of time. They’re always in style in some way, shape or form (I cannot wait for the high-waisted, diaper short trend to END though) and they’re perfect for weekend adventures or running errands around town.

To pay my homage to the good old jean short, I wanted to tackle an overall pretty simple DIY project that added a little extra oomph to one of my favorite pairs of denim. I knew anything too too crazy or trendy wouldn’t get worn very often in my wardrobe but I’m always a fan of the bohemian look during the summer so the addition of a little crochet trim did just the trick.

You’ll Need:

 Instructions:

  1. Turn denim shorts inside out and spread a thin line of fabric adhesive along the edge of the seam
  2. Attach crochet trim, starting on the inner thigh area – make sure you’re staying as straight as possible to ensure that the trim is an even length
  3. Continue all the way around the, making sure to overlap trim slightly when you get to the end to prevent any gaps and conceal the seam in the inner thigh area
  4. Let dry for about 1 hour before moving along to the other leg to make sure your trim doesn’t move around. Repeat process for second leg.
  5. Following instructions on fabric adhesive, let dry for two days before washing

Ta-da! All done. Simple yet super cute and um, I saw Free People has a super similar pair right now for a whopping $88 so you can basically save yourself more than $50 here! In case you’re still looking for a little jort-making inspiration (or just like hunky cowboys) Here’s your chance to meet a man who crafts his heart out. Okay, so maybe he’s not the best DIY-er. But what he lacks in cutting skills, he more than makes up for when he makes the perfect Sauza-rita. Watch him in action for ideas for your next ladies’ night in:
