dream space // the bedroom.

A new apartment means I’ve now got decorating on the brain, big time. While I’m still figuring out the best way to utilize my new space, I’ve been thinking most about my bedroom area – in my opinion, your bedroom is one of the most important spaces in your home. It should be tranquil and calming, while still being personal – it should be a space that just feels like you. Your own little oasis!

Unfortunately, many people put decorating their bedroom at the bottom of their list of home priorities since it’s not an area for entertaining or one that’s very publically trafficked. But it’s time to treat yourself a bit – after all, you deserve to start and end your days in a space that you truly love!

First, let’s start with some inspiration from good old Pinterest:

Some reoccurring themes from my inspiration images:

  • Cool colors: With natural elements like the sea and the night sky in my mood board, cool colors were a big reoccurring theme and served as a guide for my paint color selection. I’m a big fan of a deep dose of color to bring some interest and make a big statement (um, hello – remember my black bedroom wall?!) and I think navy would be the perfect hue.
  • Clean lines: Since I knew I wanted to go with a bold, deep paint color, the rest of my ideal bedroom space would have clean lines with a mix of crisp whites and metallics to keep things calming and avoid being too busy.
  • Industrial & vintage details: Unique vintage pieces can really help any space feel well curated vs. too matchy matchy. I’ve been on the hunt for a campaign style dresser for awhile and think it would be the perfect type of piece to do a little repainting DIY on. The thought of a mint colored dresser with those brass details has me seriously swooning.

Inspired by these themes, I’ve pulled together a dream bedroom inspired by what we found on Pinterest. It’s the perfect blend of relaxation and tranquility, while still being colorful (no neutrals here!)
