New Beauty Faves // September.
Somehow with Thailand and general life craziness I missed a month of this series but I’ve still been trying a ton of new products and wanted to hop back in to tell you about some of my recent favorites. In case you’re new to the series, New Beauty Faves is my way of letting you know what’s been tried & tested and has landed on my radar as a new favorite since I’m always testing new products and experimenting with my skincare, beauty, hair & nails routine (I’m a bit of a product junkie!).
Here’s what I’ve loved lately:
Wander Beauty Lipsetter Dual Lipstick + Liner in ‘Bold in Beijing’: You know I love my red lipstick but it can be a huge pain to get the precision needed for a bold lip with a traditional lipstick. Plus there’s the struggle of bleeding color which means you need a liner + your lipstick so the geniuses at Wander Beauty decided to pack both into a really sleek and compact package. The ‘Bold in Beijing” is a moody, deep shade that’s perfect for fall and applying is a breeze (plus it’s really long lasting!)
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealing Pot: A good under eye concealer can be hard to find and IT Cosmetics nailed it with their new launch. It’s creamy and buildable and can be applied directly with your fingertips, and manages to not crease or sink into fine lines under eyes.
Dermalogica Special Cleaning Gel: Meet my new everyday cleanser! I got hooked on this after packing a travel sized sample for Thailand. It cleans really deep without being drying or harsh on skin and worked wonders no matter what condition my skin was in – from dry post long flights to oily after sweating in the sun. Since coming back I’ve been using it for day and night and my skin has been more balanced than ever.
Luzern La Defense Urban Protect Mineral Sunscreen: SPF was a major must while in Thailand and I relied on Luzern’s mineral sunscreen to protect my face throughout my face and didn’t get burnt once. It also has antioxidant protection to protect against pollution (majorly helpful for the smog in China!) and helps keep skin hydrated which really came in handy while poolside or at the beach in hot weather.
Hello Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste: Good natural toothpaste can be really hard to find but Hello is the best I’ve tried – this stuff does the trick with fluoride and some serious whitening power while being really eco-friendly, vegan and not tested on animals.
Stila Stay All Day Foundation: I’m obsessed with this foundation right now! It’s full coverage and really buildable, while also feeling really lightweight on the skin. It seriously lives up to its all day promise by staying put and applies beautifully with a damp BeautyBlender sponge. I haven’t gotten much use out of the built in concealer yet but it’s a nice touch for keeping your makeup bag light while traveling.
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer: I tend to really struggle with daytime moisturizers because so many end up being too heavy and leaving my skin feeling greasy. I really love how lightweight this feels on the skin and the scent is really lovely – it’s one of those products that feels good to put on in the morning and helps keep my skin hydrated without being too heavy for my combination skin.
Pixi Beauty Glow-y Powder in ‘Rome Rose’: If you’re looking for a good NARS Orgasm blush dupe, look no further! It’s one of those shades that’s universally flattering with just enough glow to be really soft and pretty without overdoing it. At $16 for a really large product size, this one can’t be beat.
IT Cosmetics Brow Power Powder: I take my brows seriously and while I remain loyal to my monthly brow tint routine, this powder is amazing for filling in sparse areas of your brows and building shape. It lasts all day and even claims to be waterproof (I’ll have to try that for myself this weekend in San Diego!) and looks really natural so no one knows your brows are even getting a little boost ;)
REN Perfect Canvas Primer: This primer is like nothing else I’ve seen on the market – it’s the consistency of a serum and you only need a few drops after applying your moisturizer to smooth out skin and prep for makeup. It’s also really lightweight and does its job to help makeup stay put, even on oily skin.
Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Face Exfoliant: I’ve been using this scrub 2X a week and it’s really helped clear up my skin in some of its trouble areas (cheeks and jawline). The fine-grit scrub works away dead skin cells while its clay base helps purify skin and clear up any blemishes.
REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask: While my mask game is pretty strong, I’ve definitely been slacking in the peel department and have been using this peel mask from REN weekly for a little boost. Its cocktail of AHAs have really helped fade some of my acne scars and my face feels smoother and tighter immediately after every use.
Living Proof Prime Style Extender: After hearing coworkers rave about this Living Proof product I finally snagged some for myself and I’m loving how versatile it is. It helps keep hair looking fresher, longer, and also works to smooth out hair and adds just enough texture so you’re guaranteed more good hair days with less washing and work.
Madison Reed Color Reviving Gloss: I recently stopped by the Madison Reed Color Bar in San Francisco and was blown away by this product. I’m naturally blonde and get partial highlights a few times a year to cool things down with my hair color and this gloss did an amazing job getting rid of brassy tones for a fresher blonde in just 20 minutes (and it’s less than $30 which saves a ton of money at the salon!)
Did you find any new beauty faves this month? What are some of your go to products? Any recommendations for me?
