an extra hour for “me” time.

ZICO-1

I don’t know about you, but when things tend to get extra crazy in my life I tend to focus a little too much on my never ending to do list and let my own personal wellbeing and sanity fall to the wayside. Sometimes you just wish there was an extra hour (or four) in the day, right? It’s tough to cram everything into just one twenty-four hour time span, especially when work and your day-to-day obligations eat up the majority of that time. But it turns out I’m not alone with this craving – in a recent survey done by ZICO Coconut Water, 55% of respondents not only said they’d love an extra hour in the day, but they’d also be willing to fork over an average of $2,725 for that extra sixty minutes. That’s some serious cash!

I’ve alluded to it a few times recently but I am seriously worn out at the moment. I’ve been traveling from coast to coast almost on a weekly basis while working long hours on some big projects and client deliverables. While I do my absolute best to balance this whole blogging while also working full-time thing, it’s tough sometimes. And most of the time, it means that there’s a whole lot less “me” time left in my schedule. And it really wears on you after awhile.

So, over the weekend after kicking a seriously annoying cold that I caught during back-to-back trips out to LA, I did something about it. I made the most of that “extra hour” we got when our clocks fell back and I put my to do list on the back burner for one day. I focused on myself and did things the things I wanted to do, not just the things I had to do and you know what, it felt amazing. We live in an always-on world, my friends and sometimes you’ve just gotta take a break for a bit and recharge. It’s about clearing your mind, taking care of your body and making sure you’re not depriving yourself of the things you truly love, no matter how busy things get.

My “me” time was spent soaking up a few things I often take for granted but totally love doing – I caught up on that daunting stack of unread magazines on my coffee table. I soaked up the final moments of autumn with a long walk to Lincoln Park with Callie (winter is coming quickly!). And finally, I did some serious catching up with friends over several cups of coffee – nothing goes better with a latte than hearing the latest details of my single friends’ adventures on Tinder ;)

And I’m finally back to feeling like myself again. Recharged. Reenergized. Refreshed. Sometimes life can take a lot out of you and that little bit of “me” time can sure go a long way! To help on the physical side of things I’ve been making sure to stay hydrated with lots of ZICO Natural Coconut Water (when I’m not chugging coffee #addict) – it’s packed full of 5 natural electrolytes which does wonders to counteract airplane dehydration. Doing little things like staying hydrated and taking your “me” time can really go a long way!

How do you spend your “me” time? Did you do anything special this weekend to take advantage of the extra hour?
