In my opinion, Friendsgiving is the best kind of Thanksgiving celebration. There’s less fuss (and let’s be real, family) and lots more fun, but with crazy busy schedules around the holidays, it can be hard to coordinate calendars and make the time to catch up with friends. City living can be fast paced and always busy so I knew a non-traditional Friendsgiving was more feasible and thanks to a little help from Uber, I was able to pull together a simple little get together with friends with zero stress involved.

It all started with a little planning ahead and grabbing time on my friends’ calendars – sending out invites early is always helpful and knowing how tricky parking can be in my neighborhood, I also included Uber Gift Cards in everyone’s invites to make transportation a breeze (and ensure everyone had a safe ride home after some bubbly was consumed!). Uber Gift Cards have become one of my favorite little gifts to give for any occasion – they’re available right within the app OR you can pick ’em up on Amazon or at other retailers that typically sell gift cards. It’s crazy to think about how quickly Uber has changed the game for getting around – I’ve probably taken thousands of UberX rides over the years and couldn’t imagine what I’d do without being able to easily get a ride with a quickly.

Once I had plans in the works, another city living reality set in: small space. While I love my apartment, it’s definitely on the small side with no dedicated dining area which can make entertaining a bit tricky. Luckily SF weather made it possible to take the party outdoors with a little picnic set up in my backyard and with the help of some online shopping and a few food orders via Uber Eats, the full spread came together with minimal time and effort.

The friendships I’ve made over the past three years of living in SF give me something to be grateful for every day and I’m so happy that I was able to pull off a little Friendsgiving party amongst the craziness of travel and everyday life.
